Saint to Sister

“Saints and Sisters is a safe place to express personal experience and sacred belief.”

by Cynthia Giles | Contributor
This is my story of how I came to love this site.

It was a quiet school morning, my room still dark when the alarm went off. I knew right away that I needed help waking up my mind. I couldn’t delay, the kids would need help getting out the door on time. I silenced my alarm and logged in to Saints and Sisters for a quick, uplifting read.

A few days prior, I spent some time becoming more familiar with the site. I read through articles written by new friends. I commented on these particular articles and even published a story of my own. I found it to be a pleasant experience yet on this particular quiet morning, my experience with Saints and Sisters was far more than pleasant. It was divine.

The idea in the article I read that morning began to stir within me. I tried to articulate some of my thoughts into a brief comment. And that’s when it all began. The Lord opened my mind. I began to sort through pictures from my life, pictures that seemed like short films. I saw clear patterns. I sought understanding as I sifted through the images. Ideas came to my mind in great abundance. My thoughts were filled with understanding and I received a certain knowledge that I had not received before. It was all very personal to me and it caused me to nearly burst with joy.

My thoughts turned to the purpose of Saints and Sisters. I thought through what had just happened inside of me. I wanted to connect the dots. The process that had just taken place mattered to me and I wanted more. It brought me closer to God. It lifted me to Him and ultimately this is what I desire most in my life. And so it was in that moment of pondering that I began to understand more clearly why Saints and Sisters was so important to the founder. Why she would sacrifice so much of herself and her time to this work. Naturally, my thoughts shifted to God and why Saints and Sisters might be so important to Him. In this moment in which I was being taught, I realized some truths about Saints and Sisters.

“Saints and Sisters is a safe place to express personal experience and sacred belief.”

Because it is a safe place for sacred belief and personal experience and because Saints and Sisters was inspired from on High it then becomes a holy place. A safe place. A sacred space. The Spirit of the Lord is there in great abundance. For me, Saints and Sisters has become a sacred space for healing.

Why was I bursting with joy that morning? Because some part of my vast soul was healed. I experienced a very literal and personal healing. I understood a very specific and tangible part of my mortal experience. I gained the knowledge necessary and a part of me became whole that day. The beauty of it is more than I can describe.

I thought some more and playfully considered the idea that Saints and Sisters should actually be called Saints to Sisters. I felt that Saints and Sisters connected me to or pointed me toward my Sisters. I felt an eternal bond and kinship to the woman who wrote that article. She brought up a subject that took me heavenward. How can I not love her for that? I realized that my experience did take me, a Saint, to my Sister and because of it, I now considered her my Sister. So in my mind it should be called, as it is, Saints and Sisters. We are Saints and we are Sisters. And I love the idea! I am a Saint and I am a Sister. There is a place for me here and now I’m sort of crazy about bringing other Sisters on this eternal journey of healing. I want them to experience what I have experienced. Taste what I have tasted. And that is the joy, peace and growth that was mine on that quiet, school morning.
